Two tracks that smack of romance in their soul from Ogi feel the Beat and Khris Riley.

Ogi feel the Beat has appeared here enough times not to need an introduction. Here is the Serbian beat master with new track Spin Up.

Spin Up is just lovely. Manages some meaty solid beats but everything else is languid and full of shimmer. There’s a warbling synth that floats by on liquid undertones. Strings are plucked along with your heartstrings. This is the sound of love both requited and unrequited. A heart bursting or a heart broken. All at the same time. A perfect kiss.

Khris Riley is from Finland and comes with a mission statement of “Trying to make the world a slightly more beautiful place.”

On Just Us Two he delivers. In spades.

A lamenting guitar speaks of that intense love that excludes all others. It’s tender and poignant and resonant. The hip hop beats just about keep the track grounded as it really wants to float off into the air. Into the sunset. Out of reach of others.

But Khris says “it’s a happy but mysterious and worldly chill lofi hiphop.” It’s certainly not a worldly track to me. Not with that level of ascending optimism.

For all young lovers everywhere. Cynics need not apply.
