Progressive techno with Moszq, and Yan Solo #Techno #MelodicTechno #ProgressiveHouse @YanSolo_SA

A couple of progressive techno tracks blending progressive house and melodic techno from Moszq, and Yan Solo. Going for one from Netherlands given today’s World Cup match.

Moszq is a melodic house/deep house producer based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He says, “I like deep kicks and deep basslines with euphoric melodies. I also like birds.” No evidence of ornithology on his new track When It’s Time. But expect lots of euphoria.

When It’s Time is a great mix of melodic techno and epic house. There’s a solidity from the techno beats. Nothing too heavy. But the progressive house synth lines give that sense of optimism which the wordless vocal elements take off into flights of euphoria.

There’s a classy production to this track that stops it from sounding cluttered. Everything is free to fly off as it wants. Makes this both a bit spacey but also adds that all-important hands-in-the-air vibe.

If I were doing this properly, Yan Solo (Poyan Mesgari) would be from the USA. Instead, he’s from South Africa of Persian heritage. The featured track is Journey taken from A Journey Through Obsidian EP released on the South African label, Round Robin Recordings.

Obsidian is black volcanic glass and there’s something of that heavy elemental molten sense of Journey. This is a consciously heavy and dark track but without resorting to heft kick drums to make the point. Even the piano is all on bass key along with a bass synth that throbs with coiled intensity.

And just like obsidian fashioned as a blade in ancient times, this cuts through everything with an easy oily grace. Darkness is power of the unknown. But know this, Journey is worth taking the path less travelled to deep dark techno within.
