Shimmering deep house with: ZUSO – Aurora

After a week’s worth of mainly chilled sounds here’s some shimmering deep house for this Saturday. Australia’s ZUSO on duty.

ZUSO is Sydney’s Gabriel Cuenca. This young producer’s sound has something in common with Acidted favourite Lane 8. There’s lots of synths and a lush almost analogue feel to the tracks. To prove it, here’s new release Aurora.

An Aurora is from the Latin for dawn but also refers to the polar lights (the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by the solar wind). Aurora the track draws on both the ideas of chilliness but also the lithe essence of light. ZUSO says “I felt it was creating this vivid imagery of being somewhere cold but beautiful, hence the name Aurora.”

The track offers a taut intro that offers the feel of melting snow as well as the onset of dawn and light. Synths are layered one upon another. It should add heaviness but amazingly doesn’t. Everything remains fizzing and sparkling with life. Lovely track.
