Experimental Garage IDM from Yak40

Here’s a sneaky peak premiere of a track from Yak40 that’s not properly released until the end of the week.

Yak40 is Egor Antoshchenko, from Pokhara, Nepal. Here’s his forthcoming single Other Shores that mixes Garage, Techno and IDM into a mysterious blend. He says of the track “Other Shores is a little piece I made on the banks of Koh Chang in Thailand thinking about my wanderings in Asia (and wanderings in general, hence is the title borrowed from Nabokov’s novel).”

Other Shores takes a bass ridden Garage approach before some warmly IDM synths arrive to mess things up. This is wonderfully intoxicating stuff. There’s also a suppressed sense of Techno power waiting to be released.

The bass vibrates its way into your very core. An almost meditative quality to it all. The slowly unfolding nature of the track demands attention and everyday cares to be set aside, even for just a short time.

Brilliantly experimental. Or just brilliant.
