Time’s chilled winged chariot with: Nogymx – Salt Wind

An issue with next month marking the sixteenth anniversary of this blog is that you misremember time. Take Nogymx. I was sure I’d posted his stuff only recently but turns out it was a year ago and the first post was almost four years ago. I will dribble in my bath chair whilst you go and enjoy this lovely chilled new one from Nogymx.

As a reminder, Nogymx (‘no gimmicks’ – geddit!) is Jimmy Dunne. Originally from Ireland he’s now resident in South Korea and that has often come through in his work. Here’s new single Salt Wind, taken from his album Pahdo (meaning ‘wave’ in Korean) which is out next month. It’s available on vinyl to preorder here.

Salt Wave is as laid back as you’d expect with an old school feel. It floats past on a combination of piano and flute sounds. All terribly harmonious with just a hint of the East in the flutes.

The beats are carefully brush washed and not too far forward in the mix. This gives the track a lightly jazzy feel but without too much goatee stroking. Nice!

Perfect sounds for dope heads, beach parties and dinner parties. A chill for all occasions.
