Melodic techno from: Teho – Origins

Too much melodic techno is just techno with the grit and darkness taken out. But sometimes there comes a track that makes me remember what melodic techno can do. It can soar and uplift. And that’s what Teho does on new single Origins.

Teho is from Montpellier, France and comes with a proper craft beer beard. His work though belies that hirsute first impression with a delicate touch in among the uplifting beats.

Here’s Origins, a new single released ahead of a forthcoming album. It mixes almost Detroit style beats with prog house / organic house keyboards that simply leap heavenward. No messing about this is reaching for the stars from the get go.

The keyboards never quite reach house piano intensity but oh they threaten and that tension gives the track an extra impetus that sets it apart from most releases. This is casually offering a hook that just grabs and won’t let go. Has you humming along with a dopey grin on your face.
