Acid Monday with Alexandros – Spring’s Last Day

Let’s have some Acid for a Monday. But nothing too punishing. Instead, something slightly more summery.

Alexandros (full name: Alexandros Papaefthymiou) is an artist from Athens, Greece. He says he “devoted his life to music, approaching it from many angles (as a Violinist, Pianist, Electronic Music Live Performer, Music Technologist, and Music Producer).”

Here’s new track Spring’s Last Day. This is a mix of dark and light, hard beats and softer synths. It opens with the darkness of an acid techno bass that demands attention before mellowing out into ethereal synth chords.

This is acid techno mixed with a big dollop of something much more melodic techno styled. It’s a balance you wouldn’t expect to work. And yet it does. The synths are light and summery but the bass remains dark and omnipresent. This gives the track a grounded grittiness that really works.

You can love the 303s and then appreciate soaring melodies. Spring doesn’t yet feel to have arrived in the UK. But this allows you to experience its promise of good things to come.
