New Today, melodic techno from: Doubtingthomas – Clockwork

A melodic techno tune fresh out today for you from Doubtingthomas.

Doubtingthomas is French-born artist Aurelien Riviere. His work crosses a wide spectrum of genres, from ambient, downtempo, trip-hop and jazz to breakbeat, house and techno. Today’s offering is Clockwork from his new two track EP. It’s a mix of deep house, melodic techno and a soupçon of minimal tech.

Clockwork is ostensibly a gentle soul. There’s a low key deep house synth style at work with beats that rattle around in a more techno fashion. The sound is confusingly clear and simple until you realise the complexity of what’s actually on offer.

In the midst of the main locked melody and groove are all manner of rattles, whooshing and even a few clanks. This gives the track an interesting depth and richness while still delivering a smooth experience.

An almost antithetical experience here in the light of the fluttering arpeggio line contrasted with the serious darker beats and the almost IDM sounds.

No need to thrust your hand into any wounds on this one. Believe me, it’s a great track.
