Ambient Sunday is drifting in space with Spacecraft

Here’s a track for Mothers Day, if your mother has a penchant for beatless ambient. Provider is Spacecraft returning to these parts after a four year absence.

Spacecraft is the pseudonym of Mumbai-based producer Rishi Bhatia who’s been creating ambient/electronic music since 2019. Back then I said he produced lovely spacey ambient. In the intervening period nothing has really changed. New track The Sky Before Sunrise is lovely and beatless but produced with a beautiful caring approach that makes everything seamless.

The Sky Before Sunrise doesn’t worry about beats. All the sounds here are drifting in a liquid swirl. It’s a track of gently shifting tones.

The transition from one sound to another is incredibly skilfully done. There’s no endless drone. It’s all gently in permanent transition with an ever so stately air.

This is less the sky at sunrise as the majesty of the stars and the universe. Suns are born, die and become black holes within this wonderfully beguiling soundscape.
