Beats and guitars with: Alain B – Irons

Friday is breaking out the beats and guitars with Alain B. The track is Irons but sadly isn’t in honour of The Irons’ defeat of Freiburg on Thursday.

Alain B is from Montreal in Canada but seems to have Spanish connections. His biog says “Alain B vive en Montreal, Canadá. La música es necesaria en la vida. Toda mi canción promueve el amor y el respeto por la mujer y el hombre.” He says his work is similar to Calvin Harris and David Guetta (*shudder*). Thankfully that’s not true in this case. It owes more to the scuzzy efforts of Brock Landars on SMDU (see below) or The Prodigy.

Irons is the featured track of which Alain says “Pure Bass and Electric Guitars in simultany. My system smell burn each time:))” Yup, this is bass driven and guitar frenzied with a massive wodge of electronic niceties.

The track opens with an unashamedly dirty bass and acid line in a massive statement of intent. This is doubled down with slashing guitars and a bit of vocoder. I mean, who doesn’t like a bit of vocoder?

This is one of those track where each element seems intent on out doing all the others. This gives it a massive wall of sound effect that is all enveloping. Thankfully there’s a bit of a pause half way through to draw breath before off it goes again.

There’s nothing subtle here. This is dirty party music. And all the better for it. Only on Soundcloud for now.
