THE ALOOF WEEK: 1
I had a post on the Aloof back in August. Andy commented yesterday “I remember hearing ‘One Night Stand’ for the first time and being completely floored by it. A lost gem of a record (and group).” This got me thinking that he was right. So, to remedy the fact that they didn’t get the attention they deserved, despite their time on a major label, here’s a week’s worth of posts.
From Wiki: The Aloof were a British alternative / pop / electronica supergroup, mixing electronic and dance elements with dub influences. They were active during the 1990s and released four full-length albums. Two members of The Aloof – Burns and Kooner – were also members of electronic group The Sabres of Paradise. Their drummer Richard Thair went on to join the band Red Snapper.
To start, Scooter from 1991. The first release on Cowboy Records (RODEO1) but their second release after “Never Get Out The Boat” on FFRR. Discogs lists the Scooter/The World As One as House, Garage but it always struck me more as classic progressive house.
The Aloof – Scooter
