SANDALS / SLAM / HARDKISS

Since we had an interview with Gavin Hardkiss a few days ago, I thought we should have some of his earlier work. This post therefore features a 1994 remix for dope fiends The Sandals.

The Sandals were (previous post here). That post had mixes of 1994 single “Feet” from the UK release. It also had a separate release in the US, with largely different mixes. There was another Slam mix, plus the Hardkiss mix which was the reason I splashed out on this pricey import. The Slam mix is what you’d expect from a Slam mix, in that it takes some of the more wayward leftfield dance elements of the original track and gives it a cleaner techno structure. However, it does have a wonderful acid freakout in the middle. The Hardkiss mix is a different kettle of fish. This takes an already leftfield dance track by a skunk addled band and force feeds them mushrooms to end up with a much slower, altogether more psychadelic track.
