Soul Catalyst – Eiko

I love Kalimbas, me.

Soul Catalyst is Andrew Coulter from Seattle and in Eiko he offers something that doesn’t quite sit in proper pigeonholes. There’s a danciness to this and Bonobo is the nearest reference point. But there’s also a near-drone bass line that dominates. But it’s the mix of kalimba, flute and ehru sounds against a parping synth bass that really sells it to me. Although reading that back I wonder if I’m really selling it to you.
