I know it’s not Sunday but let’s have some ambient nonetheless. Something a bit dark and a touch experimental from 58918012.

58918012 is the returning Yurii Popov from Ivano Frankivsk, Ukraine. His 58918012 incarnation is “my dark ambient music alter ego.” There’s an interesting interview with Yurii at Fluid Radio here.

Featured track Near The Ground is taken from his new Timeless Perspective album. It’s a nine-minute dark experimental ambient track. There’s a slow droning melody that gradually unfolds alongside found sound of whistling wind and utter bleakness.

There are no beats here. This is a panorama coming slowly into focus. In many ways, nothing really happens or changes, and yet it sustains interest through those little changes of tone and the ululating wind.

A track that’s calming and yet also just that bit anxious about what is to come. Ambient for the mind and the soul.
